Invisalign is a great way to achieve a straighter smile, but compliance and correct use is key to getting the best results. Here are a few essential tips to help you maintain your aligners and stay on track with your treatment.
To ensure your treatment stays on course, wear your aligners for 22 hours a day. Use the remaining two hours for eating, drinking, and cleaning your teeth. Avoid staining foods like turmeric or Corsodyl mouthwash while your aligners are in place.
Switch to a new set of trays every 7 days, ideally not before bed, to minimize discomfort while you sleep. Keep your last two trays as backups in case you lose your current set.
You don’t need to brush after every meal—rinsing with water, flossing if you can, and chewing sugar-free gum will help clear food particles before putting your aligners back in.Regularly wash your trays with a soft brush and water, and for a deeper clean, use Retainer Brite to kill bacteria and remove stains.
If you lose an Invisalign tray, contact us for advice on how to proceed, we will most often recommend you switch to the next aligner and wear it for a longer period of time. If we need to order a replacement, we’ll ask you to go back to your previous tray until it arrives. If you lose an attachment (2-4 are expected during treatment), send us a picture of the affected tooth so we can advise you on the next steps.
If you have a night out or a special occasion, you can remove your trays temporarily—just don’t do this too often. Remember It’s really important to not wear them while eating or drinking as the acids and sugars can cause irreversible damage to the enamel of your teeth.
Chewies are crucial for keeping your trays in place and ensuring your teeth move as expected. Use them whenever you reinsert your aligners, and aim for a few extra sessions throughout the day to ensure proper tracking.
By following these simple steps, you’ll ensure your Invisalign treatment stays on course for a smooth, successful outcome.

I used to have a fear of dentists until I started coming here- it’s defo the place to go to if you used to be scared like me! This is an excellent dental practice that I've been recommending to my coworkers for awhile. The staff is friendly and professional. The sisters who run the practice are thorough not just with the examinations and cleaning, but also make sure to give me personalized and practical advice for at-home care. They make it as pleasant as a trip to the...
I enquired about a chipped tooth issue and was seen within 24 hours of making the enquiry. Treatment options were clearly explained and discussed, in what is a very professional setting just off Shad Thames. I appreciate the fact that costs were also discussed before making the appointment, which meant that there were no surprises on the day. Overall, very...
After years of not going to the dentist, I was dreading my visit. Very welcoming practice. Dr Li kept me informed of my treatment plan and explained clearly what was needed and why. Very reassuring and professional. I've never had to wait for my appointments as well, which is very appreciated on a tight schedule.
I visited Londent and had an initial consultation with Dr Panayiotis Kaimakamis (Periodontist). What an absolute dream he was from start to finish. I was quite anxious regarding some rather complex periodontal surgery I needed ASAP and his customer care, subject matter expertise and surgical skills in my humble opinion remain unmatched. I recommend both this clinic and Dr Pano...
